Tomorrow Maker - Scott County Community Services

Scott County Community Services

There are a few area organizations and agencies that have been with CASI as a faithful funder since our inception. We are honored to have received support for our mission from Scott County throughout our history.

Scott County's Community Services Department has the responsibility to provide services that are required by Iowa Code. The philosophy has always been to help people in a crisis and who are less fortunate. They work with numerous agencies within the county and make referrals when appropriate. The Community Services Department engages with other entities in the county to assist in resolving bigger societal issues such as homelessness, mental health, and healthcare.

Lori Elam, Community Services Director, shared the following thoughts about the Scott County Community Services Department's support for CASI:

Why does Scott County support CASI?

Scott County has funded CASI for many, many years to improve the quality of life of our aging citizens. CASI services create a safety net for basic needs and provide a “peace of mind” for caretakers, while improving the quality of life of the seniors in our communities.

What impact do you feel CASI has on our community?

CASI helps keep seniors in their own homes longer, relieves stress on family members who have become caretakers, and offers a variety of fun and entertaining activities to the general public. CASI is a “life saver” to many families (mine included).

What common visions do Scott County and CASI share?

One of Scott County’s goals is to create a safe and healthy community, one that is livable for all. CASI’s focus is on one population group, seniors, but the goal is the same: a safe and healthy community for our seniors who can grow old safely, and age with dignity and grace! Scott County serves the public with PRIDE; Professionalism, Responsiveness, Involvement, Dedication and Excellence. CASI provides their services in the same manner. CASI’s staff is responsive, dedicated and professional. The services are excellent! CASI is a partner in creating a community that is a great place to live!

As a community leader, what is your vision for senior services in the QCA?

Scott County is aging. A variety of resources are and will be needed to help individuals be active for as long as possible and live in a safe and healthy community. The county is available to help facilitate partnerships between service providers so that CASI’s funding can be best utilized to benefit the largest number of people possible. We hope CASI will be around for another 48 years!!

We are very grateful for the faithful investment provided each year for CASI's mission by the Scott County Community Services Department. Thank you.
